Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 14 1/2 oz diced tomatoes
- 15 oz kidney beans
- 15 oz chili beans
- 1/4 cup chili sauce
- to taste none salt
- to taste none pepper
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.
- Once the ground beef is browned, add the chopped onion and cook until it is translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
- Stir in the chili powder and cumin, cooking for 1 minute to allow the spices to bloom.
- Add the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili beans, and chili sauce to the crock pot.
- Add the browned ground beef, onion, and garlic mixture to the crock pot, stirring to combine.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook the chili on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
- About 30 minutes before serving, stir the chili and adjust the seasoning as needed.
- Serve the chili hot, garnished with chopped fresh cilantro or scallions, if desired.
