Bakery Style Chocolate Chip Cookies

Recipe by Ben Chelin on InstagramAdded 28 October 2026.

  • Serves 6
  • 14 ingredients

20 minutes to prep, 15 to cook. These bakery‑style chocolate chip cookies are thick, gooey, and made in just one bowl. A blend of butter, honey, and both semi‑sweet and milk chocolate creates a rich, caramel‑kissed flavor, while chilling the dough ensures a perfect, chewy texture. Ideal for an indulgent treat that feels like it came straight from a professional bakery.

Method

  1. 1

In a bowl, whisk the softened butter with the dark brown sugar and granulated sugar aggressively for about 3 minutes until light and creamed.

  2. 2

Add the egg, egg yolk, vanilla bean paste, and honey. Whisk aggressively for 3 more minutes until smooth.

  3. 3

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, cornstarch, and kosher salt.

  4. 4

Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients and fold until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

  5. 5

Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and the chopped milk chocolate.

  6. 6

Cover the dough and chill for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator, or 45 minutes to 1 hour in the freezer.

  7. 7

Preheat the oven to 350°F (350°F). Scoop the dough into six massive balls and place them several inches apart on a lined baking sheet.

  8. 8

If the dough isn’t fully cold, shape each ball into a tall peak so it melts down into a thick cookie instead of spreading flat.

  9. 9

Bake for 15 minutes until the edges are crispy and the centers are gooey.
