Method

  1. 1

Whisk the eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla sugar together until the mixture is fluffy.

  2. 2

Add the milk and gently fold in the flour and baking powder until just combined.

  3. 3

Stir in the melted butter until the batter becomes smooth.

  4. 4

Fold the peeled and diced apples into the batter gently.

  5. 5

Grease a 25 × 38 cm baking pan or line it with parchment paper, pour the batter in, and spread it evenly.

  6. 6

Prepare the cinnamon butter: melt the butter, add the brown sugar and stir until smooth, then mix in the cinnamon and a tablespoon of flour; let the mixture rest briefly.

  7. 7

Spread the cinnamon butter evenly over the batter.

  8. 8

Bake in a pre‑heated oven at 350°F (top/bottom heat) for about 35 minutes, checking with a skewer toward the end of baking.

  9. 9

While the cake is still warm, whisk the powdered sugar with the milk until smooth to make a glaze, then drizzle the glaze over the cake.
