  • 10 ingredients

15 minutes to prep, 10 to cook. A spooky twist on classic guacamole that blends creamy avocado with bright orange pumpkin for a Halloween‑themed dip. The mix of tomatoes, jalapeno, and a hint of cayenne gives it a zesty kick, while the pumpkin adds a subtle sweetness.

Method

  1. 1

Cut a carved pumpkin, remove the flesh, slice it into roughly quarter‑inch strips, and dice about half a cup.

  2. 2

Place the diced pumpkin in a pan with about half an inch of water, bring to a boil, and cook for 3–5 minutes until tender; then drain.

  3. 3

Dice the Roma tomatoes, sprinkle with 0.5 tsp salt and a pinch of sugar, let sit for a few minutes, and drain excess juice.

  4. 4

Dice the avocados (four) and drizzle with a little lime juice to prevent browning.

  5. 5

Dice a few jalapeno peppers and about 2 tbsp diced onion.

  6. 6

In a large bowl combine the pumpkin, tomatoes, avocado, jalapeno, onion, and lime juice; mix gently.

  7. 7

Season with black pepper to taste and 0.5 tsp cayenne pepper; adjust salt if needed.

  8. 8

Mash the mixture slightly to achieve a chunky, pumpkin‑colored guacamole.

  9. 9

Serve the guacamole in the pumpkin’s mouth, surrounded by corn chips for a spooky Halloween presentation.

Tips while you cook

Drain pumpkin well
After boiling, drain the pumpkin thoroughly before mixing.
Remove excess tomato juice
Let the salted tomatoes sit, then drain the juice before adding to the bowl.
Prevent avocado browning
Drizzle a little lime juice over diced avocado right after cutting.
