- 50 min

20 minutes to prep, 30 to cook. Three versatile ground‑meat bowls that let you go from a quick pantry‑only meal to a flavorful stir‑fry and finally a restaurant‑quality lamb bowl with seasoned rice and fresh salad. Each level builds on the same core ingredients—ground meat, rice, and simple sauces—while adding fresh aromatics, bold spices, and creamy toppings for extra depth and protein.

Method
Level 1 – No Grocery Run Bowl: Cook jasmine rice (3 servings) with water at a 1:1.25 ratio. Mix Kewpie mayo, mustard, ketchup and smoked paprika to create a burger sauce. Heat a pan very hot, add frozen ground beef portions, season with salt and pepper, sear until a crust forms, flip and break into pieces. Assemble the bowl with rice, beef, burger sauce, chopped sweet‑spicy pickles and a handful of sesame seeds.
Level 2 – Stir‑Fry Bowl: Slice Thai bird's eye chilies and shallot thinly. Prepare stir‑fry sauce by mixing gochujang, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce and rice wine vinegar. Heat oil in a wok, add ground chicken, season, sear for about 3 minutes. Add more oil, then the chilies and shallot; soften 1–2 minutes. Stir in the sauce and cook 30 seconds until it coats the meat. Serve over the leftover jasmine rice, drizzle QP mayo and top with sliced scallions and pickled ginger.
Level 3 – Better‑Than‑Takeout Bowl: Make the cucumber‑tomato salad by combining cherry tomatoes, red onion, cucumber chunks, parsley; season with salt, sumac, olive oil and vinegar; chill. Cook white rice in a rice cooker with 1.25 parts water per part rice, adding chicken bouillon, turmeric, oregano and whole cloves; the result is yellow seasoned rice. Heat a cast‑iron pan until very hot, add ground lamb, sprinkle with salt, Aleppo pepper and cumin seeds; press down to maximize contact. Let the lamb brown undisturbed for about 4 minutes, then break up and continue browning another 2 minutes; blot excess fat with a paper towel. Assemble the bowl: place seasoned rice, top with spiced lamb, add a generous portion of the salad, a dollop of Greek yogurt and a sprinkle of feta cheese.
