This delicious French-inspired babka is filled with frangipane, a sweet almond paste.

Ingredients

1 1/10 lb flour
7 4/5 oz sugar
0.35 oz salt
1/4 oz dried yeast
0.51 cup milk
4 eggs
4 1/5 oz butter or margarine
1 vanilla
3 1/2 oz almond powder
3 1/2 oz margarine or butter
3 1/2 oz sugar
2 eggs
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 4/5 oz sugar
1 7/10 fl oz water

Instructions

Combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a bowl.
Add warm milk, eggs, butter or margarine, and vanilla. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough for 10 minutes.
Let the dough rise for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Roll out the dough and spread the frangipane filling.
Roll the dough into a log shape and cut it into 12 equal pieces.
Place the babkas on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes.
Make the syrup by dissolving sugar in water.
Brush the syrup over the babkas while they're still warm.
